Open submissions for: HEAVEN IS A MOSH PIT - A Zine Anthology
Description:
Even before the creation of ICE, immigrant communities have never known peace under the U.S. police state. In recent weeks, we have been struck and horrified by the killings of Keith Porter, Alex Pretti, and Renée Good, among hundreds of immigrant deaths in detention centers whose names are not yet known to us. As writers and creators, zine-making and organizing through art is our form of protest, as has been the case for generations of activists before us. HEAVEN IS A MOSH PIT is a zine about punk, protest, and poetry that celebrates immigration, family, and community. Whether you are an immigrant yourself or are first, second, or third-gen and beyond, we want your voices—loud, proud, angry, longing, and everything in between. To us, heaven is a place with no borders, where all walks of life are embraced, and we dance together. Tell us what your version of heaven looks like.
Co-edited by LA-based writers Sofía Aguilar and Paula Macena, all proceeds from the zine will be distributed to immigrants and protestors affected by ICE.
