MEET OUR world

There are art galleries, concerts, plays, and various events that portray different artforms. But aside from open mic nights in select cities, there's rarely a space for writers to make a headlining appearance. The events we host put local writers in the spotlight. We give them and their audiences a space to listen to their writings, explore their local music scene, build community, and support writers.

Pluto’s first event was held June 24, 2023, at a home for a book launch. This event had 40 attendees, a DJ, and four poets. Since then, we’ve begun hosting monthly events, amassing audiences of up to 250+ attendees and line-ups of headlining poets, bands, DJs, solo acts, and vendors. We plan to continue working with writers on larger scales, making local literature accessible and engaging to all.

Pluto’s continues to grow and expand, transforming into a hub for all creatives that publishes artists and writers, provides resources to further their craft, and regularly hosting affordable workshops and events to push our number one priority: community for creatives everywhere.

MEET THe founder

Paula Macena is, above all, a writer. Besides this, she’s a Brazilian author and community organizer raised in Newark, New Jersey. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Writing and Film Production, and has been featured in Junior High the Magazine, Fierce by Mitú, and other publications. Her most recent poetry collection, When the World Ends This Time, was published in November 2025. In her pursuit of shedding light on marginalized writers, she is the founder and director of Pluto’s, a creative collective that highlights local poetry and music. When she isn’t writing, you can find her lying in the sun thinking about writing, making too much coffee, and staring lovingly at her cats.
